Lord Of War is one of the best movies I've seen in ages. I've always been an admirer of Nicholas Cage throughout his career. But... Daaaamn!!! Keanu Reeves could never have pulled off the role of Yuri Orlov. Never. I rather doubt Brad Pitt could've done it full justice, either. The overall casting and performances are supreme. Major accolades go to actor Eamonn Walker [ IMDb], who portrayed the infamous despot, Andre Baptiste Sr. This is his finest work since his incredible stint as Kareem Said on the sorely missed HBO series, Oz. The script is raw in its honest brutality, and is peppered with what are sure to become classic movie quotes. What really clinched this cinematic statement for me was its direction. Andrew Niccol is responsible on both accounts. Pure genious! It's hard to forego slipping any spoilers, but I'll give you this: A person who skillfully cements the audio-visual connection between spending countless rounds of ammo and the cha-ching of an old-style cash register is right on the money in my book.
