Yeah. So, it's Monday during a Mercury Retrograde. I'm not in the best of moods. Got tons of stuff that needs to get done today, but everything is on hold until at least tomorrow. Why? Darling Son #1 got barfing sick in class. Yippee - not. At least I had just finished editing a trippy linked images table on Multiply when the school nurse called. WTF evah.
Managed to get DS#1 home sans complications. It was touch and go in the grocery store, though. We only went in for a few items: bread, ginger ale, bananas, and to rent a couple of DVDs. While waiting an unusually long time for assistance at the DVD checkout, DS#1 went goth-friggin'-pale. Freaked me out, big time. He finally started to get his color back when we got in the fugimobile for the ride home.
Well, my Darling Husband was gone by the time we arrived. He'd mentioned the possibility of running an errand with a neighbor. At least he made coffee before he left, bless his heart. Still, his mission leaves me in a quandry. Sick child. Errands to run. Repairs to make. Chores to perform. Nobody else capable to carry out these tasks. Thus, I'm left holding the bag and am severely limited as to what I can accomplish with it.
So, I'm thinking that maybe I can do some image editing, HTML, or something. Shyeah, riiiiiight. DS#1 decided that he's hungry. This *is* a good thing, and so far he's managed to keep down the banana he ate about an hour ago. Now he's working his way through some saltines. I'm currently afraid to venture any further than that, where his testy tummy is concerned. After all, vomited banana and saltines stink less than say, ramen noodles.
Anyway... That's not the only thing gnawing at me today. My alleged best friend has either found Ms. Right (or at least "Ms. Right Now"), or he's going through a royal mid-life crisis. She's fourteen years his junior and she and her daughter have recently taken up residence in his home, for crying out loud! What in the hell is that all about?!? I don't know if I want to know. He's justified this course of action with the rationale that she may be his last shot at a love life. Regardless, in the interim it seems that he's all but dismissed the one person who's always had his back, no matter what, for over two decades.
Grrrr... DS#1 is intermittently hovering over my shoulder as I try to purge my brain's temp files of this crap. What I wouldn't give right now for just one day with zero spouse or children. Fuck it. I'm gonna go knit something. Ciao!
